Everything's Not a Dog: Successful Fursuit Design
Time to build a fursuit! But wait, don't grab the foam and glue just yet. This panel will discuss the real first steps in fursuit construction—references and concept art. Even for toony fursuits or made-up hybrids, anatomy references and accurate concept art are your roadmap to creating a memorable and effective critter. Let's talk about where to get them, how to create them, and how to use them along the way. I'll also go over techniques I use to design body padding, create good proportion, fix symmetry issues, and stay "on model" throughout the process. We'll also discuss a little fursuit design, and how what works for 2D art doesn't also translate to big furry costumes. Suitable for fursuit builders of all levels, but especially beginners!

The panelist brings both practical and academic experience, as a doctor (PhD) of neuroscience and a person in recovery. The use of time will be flexibly divided between an informal talk on addition and recovery - including insights from modern neuroscience - and time for group discussion modeled loosely on recovery meetings and/or free or guided meditation.
